First VISEON Trolleybus with VIP facilities
• Exclusive model for Saudi royal family • Shipping of twelve VISEON LT20s has begun • Future-oriented vehicles for King Saud University in Riyadh
The world´s first articulated trolley bus with exclusive VIP facilities is about to leave the VISEON plant in Pilsting, Lower Bavaria. The articulated bus with real wood floor, leather covered ceiling and comfortable leather seats is part of an order from the King Saud University, Riyadh for twelve trolley buses of the type VISEON LT20. In future, the electrically operated trolley buses in up-to-date VISEON design will provide the newly-erected King Saud University, Riyadh with a locally emission-free and extremely quiet passenger transit system. In the record time of only 18 months, VISEON has carried out the entire project from the first model, to the prototype and the final assembly of the complete fleet. The LT20 had been publicly presented for the first time in June this year.
“VISON has not only demonstrated that it can innovate at tremendous speed with its new models and developments. The dispatch of the twelve trolley buses to Saudi Arabia right now, proves that we are also able to carry out demanding projects efficiently and to the full satisfaction of the customer.” explained VISEON managing director Joachim Reinmuth. The trolley buses VISEON LT developed by VISEON are already setting new standards in public transportation through their extraordinarily dynamic design, which has been completed by drive technology optimised for electrical operations and the length of 19.50 metres. The cherry on top of the cake is, however, an articulated bus equipped with VIP facilities, which will transport future members of the Saudi royal family and prominent guests around the university campus. For the first time, the VISEON Customizing Team of Alexandru Vagner and trolley bus project leader Thomas Krauss have refined an articulated trolley bus with high-value materials and interiors into a luxury class vehicle.
Stepping through one of the two rear doors leads you into a world you are not accustomed to. Instead of the functional ambience of a public transit bus, the passenger is greeted by an atmosphere which makes you feel at home. The dark real wood floor made of fine smoked oak with fine aluminium streaks provides a comfortable living room feeling, as does the wheel housing superstructure composed of root wood, railings and decoration made from stainless steel, or the 17 deep upholstered leather seats from Kiel. And even the ceiling has been refined by the construction specialists from VISEON; it is sumptuously covered with fine, hand-sewn leather.
A small kitchen with a fridge and five flat-screen monitors with a 55 centimetre (21.5 inch) screen size, which will be served by a multi-media system, complete the list of amenities that this exclusive VISEON trolley bus offers its guests. A glass wall that covers the entire width of the bus divides the driver´s workplace from the passenger area. The reconstruction and embellishment of the passenger area was executed with renowned artisan quality and carried out in collaboration with experienced craft enterprises from the Pilsting area. Like all of the other eleven vehicles in this order, the VIP bus also provides a recently developed ventilation concept with a highly efficient air conditioning system, which has a total 66 kilowatt cooling power for the passenger space alone. The driver has access to a separate air conditioning system with seven kilowatt cooling capacity. Another special feature of the vehicles for Saudi Arabia is constituted by a curtain of air descending onto the doors, which prevents the influx of hot air from outside when the door is open; this is similar to what you would find at entrances to climatised department stores.
In the coming weeks, VISEON will dispatch the twelve trolley buses for the King Saud University in Saudi Arabia. From the loading terminal located in Landshut, which is near to Pilsting, they will be transported by rail to Bremerhaven. Here the loading of the vehicles onto the ship to Dschidda in Saudi Arabia will be completed and from there they will be transported on low-bed trailers approximately 1000 kilometres by road to Riyadh. Although construction work is still being carried out on the university campus, test runs can be carried out with trolley buses on the five kilometre long section of the future route on the university campus. By the time of the inauguration in February, the construction of the entire eleven kilometre long wire network will have been completed and all twelve VISEON trolley buses will be in operation.

Bayer-Reisen presented with the first two VISEON double-deckers
• Improved quality in local public transport system through more seats on town and regional routes
Ulm/Ehingen. VISEON Managing Director Joachim Reinmuth and Sales Manager Günter Maier recently handed over the first two VISEON LDD14 regional double-decker buses to the Ehingen-based bus and coach operator Bayer Reisen. Present at the handing over ceremonies in Ulm as well as on the market square in Ehingen were the head of the company Robert Bayer, his daughter Sonja Bayer and Managing Director Eckhard Werner along with leading representatives of the respective town councils, district government officials and local transport network, the Donau-Iller-Nahverkehrsverbund-GmbH (DING). Bayer Reisen will use the two double-decker buses mainly on regional routes for the surrounding communities to and from Ulm and Ehingen as well as for commuters and school runs. "Each of these double-decker buses has around 100 seats. As a result, we can now provide a seat to every passenger also during peak periods and thus enhance the attractiveness and acceptance of the local public transport system in our region", emphasised Bayer Managing Director Eckhard Werner during the handover. "We are extremely pleased that with VISEON we have managed to find a bus manufacturer which is prepared to develop and build such a niche vehicle like this regional double-decker."
VISEON presented the LDD14 double-decker for the first time at the 2010 IAA commercial vehicle show last September. Not only did the visually attractive appearance with the generously-sized windows, the characteristic V-shaped headlight assembly and athletically designed rear cause a stir with all the experts. In addition, the regional double-decker is available with different door and stairway arrangements as well as featuring a range of interior section options, and is therefore able to meet varying customer requirements without any problems. The two vehicles for Bayer Reisen each have three doors whereby the middle entry doors are twice the normal width and equipped with wheelchair ramps. On the lower deck with its 1.82 m standing height, the passenger seats are mounted on platforms whilst a standing-only space is positioned in front of door II. Two stairways – one behind the driver, one on the right side behind the middle entry – lead up to the spacious upper deck.
As standard, the VISEON LDD14 is driven by a vertical MAN EEV D2066 engine producing 400 PS (294 kW) which is fitted at the rear. The EcoLife automatic transmission as well as the three axles are supplied by ZF. At the front and on the steered trailing axle, the double-decker bus is equipped with independent suspension. The driver´s workplace has adjustable, standardised instrument and operator control panel according to VDV guidelines
Altogether, VISEON has already sold more than a dozen of these vehicles at home and abroad since the official launch at the IAA.

World premiere: The new VISEON LDD14 – flexible and versatile regional double-decker bus
• Latest design for urban buses • Attractive alternative to the articulated bus • Versions available for town and regional routes • High seating capacity
At the IAA commercial vehicle show in Hanover from 23 - 30 September 2010, VISEON Bus GmbH is unveiling its regional double-decker bus: the VISEON LDD14. The classification itself refers to the essential features of the first public service vehicle which was developed completely by VISEON engineers and produced at the Pilsting manufacturing facility: L stands for low floor, DD for double-decker and 14 for the length in metres. As it happens, the new public service bus measures exactly 14,000 millimetres. "With this new regular service double-decker, we once again cover an interesting niche in the omnibus market", explained VISEON Managing Director, Joachim Reinmuth. "Thanks to the availability of a broad range of equipment, this new bus is configurable for a wide variety of applications and, as a result, is an attractive alternative to the articulated bus for many bus operators for use in regular services on strongly frequented routes as well as a double-earner in the regional and excursion sector".
The design: Regular service double-decker in its most beautiful form With the VISEON LDD14, the bus and coach manufacturer from the Bavarian town of Pilsting has proved that a 4 m high and 14 m long vehicle can be packaged extremely elegantly, tastefully and with flair. In so doing, the VISEON design engineers have succeeded in lending the oversized cuboid both fluid external lines and soft edges while, at the same time, the characteristic design elements of the VISEON buses - V-shaped wings and V-shaped arrangement of headlights and rear lights - harmoniously combine with the overall picture. The windscreen stretches continuously upwards high into the roof and creates an impression of being open and friendly. At the same time, the V-shaped inclined headlights complete with standard LED daytime lamps provide a sporty touch to the double-decker.
The side view is characterised by the large V-shaped wings which - optically enhanced by the top window line that inclines almost imperceptibly downwards at the front into the lower deck - catches the enormous length of the giant bus and, as a result, underlines the satisfying proportions of the new bus. For the observer, a view of the rear of the VISEON LDD14 is both expressive and impressive at the same time. The characteristic style features with the VISEON V, state-of-the-art rear lights and the strikingly-formed rear window harmonise here in the best way possible with the bold cooling and ventilation fins and the athletically streamlined form of the rear as a whole.
Front and rear lights are not only important components in the design of the VISEON LDD14. In addition, they also offer enhanced safety and ease of maintenance. Apart from the daytime lamps, all other lights with the exception of the main, high-beam and fog lights are designed in energy-saving, long-lasting and low-maintenance LED technology. The new V-shaped rear lights with downward-angled, large-sized LED strips have been filed for patent protection by VISEON.
The body: a completely new development for more customer benefits With the development of the new regional LDD14 double-decker, VISEON engineers designed a completely new vehicle from the floor right through to the roof. Furthermore, this was conveniently integrated into the VISEON modular construction system which already provides the basis for the C-series coaches. As a result, various components from the VISEON C10, such as the side windows or front spoiler, are also utilised in the LDD14. Although such a completely new development initially increases both time and expense, it does however facilitate technical solutions which are indeed linked to real added value for the bus operator. An example for this is the rear entrance which can be optimised to suit customer requirements along with the respective door and seating arrangement: it can be installed in front of the middle axle behind door II or behind the rear axle in front of door III in the direction of driving. The bus body apertures for the doors also profit from the new development. With 1380 millimetres, this is now 30 millimetres wider than was previously the case. Advantage: wider doors to speed up passengers boarding and alighting the vehicle.
Like all VISEON buses, the VISEON LDD14 has a self-supporting lattice tube frame. The lightweight and extremely stable basic structure is welded together using the proven all-round spar technology with precision-lasered square steel bars. The steel tube frame construction undergoes a comprehensive high-quality KTL cathodic dip painting process to ensure reliable and long-lasting protection against corrosion. In this respect, VISEON gives a six-year warranty against rust. Just how variable the engineers have designed the VISEON LDD14 is shown, among other things, by the range of door options. The double-decker is available with both two or three doors. Whereas door II always features a double-width version, the front as well as the third door at the rear can also be ordered as single doors. As a general rule for the regional execution (Class II), the LDD14 is equipped with externally-opening swivel doors; for urban route versions (Class I), both externally and internally-opening swivel doors are available.
Chassis and drive system: proven components in a new combination For the engine, transmission and axles, VISEON uses proven components supplied by MAN and ZF. The drive is powered by a vertical in-line six cylinder MAN D2066 LOH (EEV) diesel engine which is installed in the rear on the left. The 10.5 litre power unit produces 400 hp (294 KW) and has a maximum torque of 1900 Nm at 1000 - 1400 min-1. Due to the high-pressure injection technique with common rail technology, a cooled exhaust gas recirculation and an electronically controlled filter, the engine does not require any additional operating fluids – also for the more stringent EEV exhaust level. In order to be able to deal more effectively with the more rigorous double-decker drive requirements VISEON has equipped the engine with a specially developed larger-sized radiator complete with two fans. Finely-stepped and optimised for regular service use, the six-speed automatic ZF EcoLife gear box transfers the engine power to the drive axle.
The requirements on the chassis of the LDD14 double-decker are extremely demanding: excellent travelling comfort, best-possible driving safety in spite of the high centre of gravity, consistent low-floor design and wide passageways between the wheel housings. In order to master all of this, VISEON uses low-floor axles from ZF. At the front, the ZF RL75EC independent suspension provides proven comfort. This axle is also in use as a trailing axle at the rear - in this case, equipped with ZF RAS forced steering. As drive axle, VISEON uses a ZF AV132 low-floor portal axle. Whereas the VISEON LDD14 regional version (Class II) is fitted with 305/70 R 22.5 tyres, the city bus (Class I) uses 315/60 R22.5 on the steering axle and 275/70 R 22.5 on the remaining axles. For the VISEON LDD14 Class II model, approval of up to 100 km/h is possible.
The passenger area: generously dimensioned, pleasantly bright and very flexible A high variability within the scope of the VISEON modular construction kit along with a high degree of flexibility for the bus operator when used as a double-earner were placed right at the top of the specification sheet for the development of the LDD14. This becomes particularly clear with regard to the passenger area. On the lower deck, the customer can choose between a continuous low-floor variant, a version with platforms and level wheelchair or pushchair/pram platforms, or a combination of both. Depending on requirements, this results in a higher or lower number of seats or standing room capacity. The upper deck can be equipped with a range of different seating supplied by well-known manufacturers to suit both urban and regional operations. According to the respective execution and type of seating, the LDD14 has a capacity of up to 133 passengers with maximum 103 seats.
The bottom deck has a standing height of 1820 millimetres whilst over the rear axle, at least 1680 millimetres is available. Two stairways lead up to the upper deck: the one at the front is positioned directly behind the driver and the second behind door II or in front of door III depending on the type of door and customer's specification. The standing height on the upper deck is at least 1680 millimetres at any point and thus fulfils all legal requirements. In order to create more space at least in the centre aisle, the designers planned three large-sized glass roof sections which can, at the same time, serve as emergency exits. This natural source of light, in connection with the large side windows, convey a generous and friendly sense of space on the upper deck. The first two rows of seating on the upper deck will be particularly popular because of the panoramic window which stretches far back into the roof thus providing a clear view of the sky above and thereby imparts a completely new driving feel. For fresh air fans and guided tour operators, VISEON incidently also offers the LDD14 ex works as an open-top version with or without a sliding roof.
A comfortable interior climate and pleasant temperatures in the summer is ensured by the efficient air conditioning system installed in the rear above the engine. This is equipped with more than 40 KW of cooling capacity in order to meet all European requirements. The draught-free air distribution takes place by means of roof channels with outlets to the windows and the centre aisle. In winter, a maintenance-free convector heating system with 20 KW heat output warms the passenger areas on the lower and upper decks. This is controlled through a new, climatic control function developed by VISEON whereby both the hardware as well as software were adapted to meet the high requirements in the double-decker bus.
The driver´s workplace: VDV-applicable operator comfort and clear arrangement Thanks to the design of the cockpit according to uniform VDV guidelines, the driver immediately feels at home with the set up. The well-positioned mirrors provide good all-round visibility. So that the driver has the lower and upper decks in view at all times, VISEON has equipped the LDD14 with camera surveillance as a standard feature. The instrument area with the central display unit provides the driver with the most important information at a glance and the height and inclination can be adjusted via the steering wheel. For the city line buses, the tachograph is fitted as a large round instrument while the regional double-decker has an additional rev counter. In the door to the driver´s position is a storage place for a briefcase or similar. In order to provide the driver with relief from exhaust gases and dust in city traffic, VISEON engineers have installed the air intake in for the driver´s position air-conditioning in the dustproof area on the left in front of the front wheel. The separate front box for this air-conditioning has a heating output of 15 KW and a 6 kW cooling capacity.
V-CAN®: new electronic set-up for more flexibility In order to be able to offer customers as large a number as possible of equipment options as well as being able to remain flexible with regard to the selection of the components, VISEON has developed its own electronics architecture called V-CAN® which has been used for the first time in the VISEON LDD14. In the process, the bus manufacturer can take advantage of proven hardware components which assume control of the drive, lighting, door management system and other installations. A new feature is the enquiry structure of the individual data and connections, and the software which from now on allows that considerably more as well as different components can be linked to the electronics structure without having to undergo a re-design each time. The new V-CAN® vehicle electronics is trademarked by VISEON.

World premiere: The new VISEON C13 – premium coach of 12.7-metre length
• The second model in the VISEON C series offers high capacity and the best travel comfort • “Open Space” creates a feeling of greater space and allows at least 1.97 metres of headroom along the whole length • Top operating comfort for the driver • Engines with 400 hp and 440 hp are available
VISEON Bus GmbH is expanding its range of coaches and with the VISEON C13 is presenting its first coach over twelve metres long at the IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hanover from 23rd – 30th September 2010. The C13 is designed as a two-axle vehicle of 12.70 metres in length, offering up to four additional seats. Managing Director Joachim Reinmuth: “With the VISEON C13 we have developed a vehicle that is specifically aimed at customers with an increased capacity requirement for short trips and excursions. As with our first coach, the midibus VISEON C10, we are once again living up to our claim to be a niche supplier of top-quality premium coaches.” The VISEON C13 is the first coach in the premium class of 12.7 metres in length. This bus stands out due to a pioneering design, the highest level of drive comfort and drive safety, as well as superior standard equipment.
The concept: perfect proportions thanks to modular system The VISEON Development Team under Ernö Bartha created a modular system for the midibus VISEON C10, which allows for different lengths, such as the current 12.7 metres, with just a few additional modules. Another advantage of the newly developed system: As for the midibus VISEON C10, VISEON is also offering the C13 with a choice of central and rear entry. The self-supporting bodywork with a tube frame in all round spur technology gives the VISEON C13 shape, stability and security with a comparably low weight. Just like the C10, the VISEON C13 also measures 3.56 metres high, and, thus, is streamlined and fits into garages. Nevertheless, it is high enough to offer enough room for a spacious luggage section and headroom in the aisle. All VISEON C series coaches have the standard front section including entry in common, as well as the rear overhang with striking rear and parts of the middle construction. With an extension of the wheelbase to 6,750 millimetres and the front overhang by 450 millimetres to 2,650 millimetres, the engineers have achieved the overall length of 12,700 millimetres with ideal proportions. The VISEON C13 model with central entry and minimum seat spacing of 785 millimetres in all positions (four star) offers space for up to 48 guests. Up to 44 passengers can be seated in the five-star version with seat spacing of 870 millimetres. Only four and five-star models will be available at the start of production.
The design: dynamic, elegant and distinctive The VISEON design language with its elegant lines and distinctive features characterises the new VISEON C13. Overall length and height, the height of the window line, the side panelling and luggage flaps are all connected in a visually pleasing relationship. As a central design element of the side section, the VISEON V soars elegantly over the B and C column and tapers away gently on the roof edge. This roof edge, also called roof rounding, covers the central in-roof air conditioning with its striking raised design and, thus, contributes substantially to the cheerfully and harmoniously proportioned appearance of the sides.
The stylised V repeats – sometimes larger, sometimes smaller – on the front and the rear. The headlights and light elements also follow the characteristic VISEON V shape. The front of the VISEON C13 has a friendly and self-confident appearance. The large, deep-design front windscreen with its smiling bottom edge curving upwards suggests a kind openness. The headlights and daytime lamp give the new VISEON coach its characteristic eagle appearance and also a sporty look. The striking form of the front headlights is repeated in the rear lights, giving the C13 a distinctive appearance from the rear as well.
The coachwork: well-thought-out technology down to the last detail Design and function go hand-in-hand on the VISEON C13. For example, the high roof rounding not only fulfils aesthetic demands. It also acts as a trough that stops rainwater from running from the roof over the side windows. Additionally, the rounding acts as a channel for running all the cables and hoses and piping for the air conditioning. The ventilation ducts in the narrow ceiling lining are, therefore, free of disruptive inserts and the air is fed without disruption straight to the air outlets for ventilation of the passenger area.
With its functionality, the special design of the roof edge adds to the overall design of the modular, self-supporting tube frame. The light-weight and extremely stable structure has been welded from precision-lasered square bar steel using tried and tested all round spar technology and has two defined antiroll bars in the area of the B column and at the rear. Of course, the coachwork is certified in accordance with the latest tightened standard ECE R66 on antiroll stability. The whole steel tube construction is reliably and permanently protected against corrosion with a top-quality KTL primer down to the smallest elbow. Therefore, VISEON makes a 6-year guarantee against perforation corrosion.
The connection between the self-supporting framework and the chassis and drive modules is effected at defined points that do not cover any hollow spaces and, therefore, can easily be re-protected against rust after fitting.
Whilst the front and rear sections consist of glass fibre reinforced plastic, the panelling and the side walls are lined with fully galvanised steel plate, which is firmly connected under tension. The extremely light aluminium luggage flaps and doors get their unusual stability and torsional stiffness from the double-leaf method familiar from car doors. The smooth outer surface is firmly connected to the stabilising inner of bevelled steel. The luggage space flaps, the engine space flap and the service flaps are all attached with the newly developed multi-link hinges. These facilitate an unusually large opening angle of over 140 degrees. This makes the luggage space and service points particularly accessible. The attractive wheel arches of corrosion-free, glass fibre reinforced plastic are designed as universal models for left and right and can be removed if needed.
The luggage space and the service points: generously sized and easily accessible. The high design with an aisle height of 1,270 millimetres above road level facilitates a voluminous luggage space with 10.0 cubic metres with rear entry and 9.1 metres with central entry. This can be accessed via three large flaps. With central entry you can have either a driver’s couch or an additional storage space behind the central door.
The main control panel for the vehicle electronics is also stored in the luggage space, well-protected yet easily accessible. Other control panels are located close to the consumers, in the area of the front and rear doors and behind the service flap underneath the driver's seat. This service area also houses the batteries on a pull-out slide, a circuit breaker and a 15-litre container for the screen wash system. The spare wheel is stored behind the fold-down fairing. The VISEON engineers have fitted the diesel tank between the wheelhouses of the front axle. This can be filled from both sides as standard.
The vehicle lighting: LED technology throughout Apart from the main, side and fog lights, all rear lights, indicators, brake and position lights on the new VISEON C13 now benefit from the durable, fail-proof and energy-saving LED technology. VISEON also offers main and high-beam headlights with extremely clear and wide-illumination bi-xenon lamps. An adaptive light that - controlled by the wheel lock on the left axle - switches off the right or left fog light as needed, comes as standard on the VISEON C13.
The driver’s workstation: generous, clear and practical Entry to the VISEON C13 is convenient via three, 220-milimetre-high steps. The escort space has generous legroom and can be fitted with a single or double seat. As the attachment points are identical for both models, customers can also choose to change to seat later on. There is a 55-litre fridge and space for travel documents beneath the large flap in the dashboard. The dashboard is made of top-quality composite materials with a soft-touch surface and curves around on the driver's side around the workstation at the wheel. The instrument area is slightly tilted in the driver's direct line of vision. Two large round instruments and central multi-function display show all necessary information at a glance. In a very clear, user-friendly and practical layout, the switches for service functions like door openings, toilet, hostess call or reading light are on the right, whilst the switches for drive functions like lights, fog lights, sun blinds or mirror adjustment, are on the left. The lever for the handbrake is also on the left at the front, directly next to the driver.
The optional navigation device with optional rear view camera function, the electronic heating and air conditioning controls with VISEON’s own control, the audio and video system and the digital tachograph are arranged at the front on the right-hand side of the screen integrated into the dashboard and are easy to access from top to bottom. There is still sufficient space underneath for a large, closing drawer, which is A4 sized and can be used to store travel documents or other paraphernalia. There are further pockets and holders, for example under the driver’s window and an elegant roller cover in the gear lever console.
The driver in the VISEON C13 has a comfortable and ergonomically optimised seat slightly beneath the passenger level, meaning he is not in the passengers' direct line of sight. The designed space for the driver's area is so generous that even tall people can find a comfortable sitting and working position. The workstation impresses with outstanding panoramic visibility. The new type of outside mirrors offer an excellent view to the rear, side and directly in front of the vehicle. A vibration-damping element in the mirror arm reduces vibrations, which also helps to improve visibility. The special glass of the mirrors reduce glare at night (Nightsafe®). Mirrors are also available with water-repellent glass (Hydrosafe®). Customers may also order a camera-supported blind spot assist at extra cost. This used four LED lights in the mirror to warn the driver when vehicles or obstacles are in the blind area to the left of the vehicle.
The passenger area: comfort, elegance and “Open Space” Another step leads to the spacious passenger area. The central aisle - slight slope at the front - offers headroom of at least 1,970 millimetres along its whole length. The ceiling opens out into a dome-like extension with generously sized panoramic window at the rear. VISEON has applied for a patent on this unique roof extension behind the centrally located air conditioning system, which is called “Open Space”. It guarantees sufficient headroom and generous clearance in the aisle at the rear and in the slightly raised area above the engine.
The spacious luggage racks are upholstered underneath and offer enough space even for larger bags. Slightly curved brackets connect the rack to the ceiling at regular intervals. This tried and tested design not only counters disruptive movement and vibrations. It also helps to keep the vehicle's overall weight as low as possible, as this system is much lighter than free-running supports and their extensive anchors. The cross members of the luggage racks are also home to the aisle lighting and loud speakers.
The comfortably designed interior with four harmonised basic colours of light beige, chocolate-brown, black and aluminium-grey can be individually designed from the large selection of upholstery and colour-matched carpets for the wall cladding. The ceiling lining is a neutral light beige tone and is made from top-quality, completely recyclable plastic. This comprises a stable base layer of ABS plastic and thermoplastic polyurethane layer fused to this in a coextrusion process, which not only gives the ceiling a light grain, but also a sophisticated soft-touch.
Roof channel with integrated power supply The roof channel with its multi-function aluminium profile represents a substantial innovation on the new VISEON C13. This profile not only forms the ventilation channel with the air outlets for even room ventilation. It also contains a rail system for the side curtains and for attractive service sets with reading lights and hostess call, which can be installed at as many points as you wish. The show-stopper: the power supply for the service sets is already integrated in the profile. Advantage: no cables or failure-prone connectors fitted in the roof channel.
The heating and air conditioning system developed by VISEON ensures a good climate. It is electronically controlled as standard and provides an indirect ventilation system with outlets at the aisle and windows. Thus, there is a pleasant, draught-free climate in the whole passenger area whatever the weather. The air conditioning is available with 32 kW or 39 kW cooling capacity. Maintenance-free convectors can heat the inside evenly and provide pleasant radiant heat. Additional entry heaters on the front door and also on the rear door on request prevent cold getting in at this point. The side windows are a new type of insulating glass and so also ensure even temperatures inside and also contribute to the vehicle's low weight Due to demonstrably better stability than with the standard 4.0-milimetre sheets of glass inside and outside, two 3.0-milimetre-thick layers of glass are used here.
The customer has a choice of seating: VISEON offers price-neutral top-quality passenger seats from Kiel and Vogel. The basic equipment includes adjustable back rests, folding arm rests and seatbelts, as well as a large selection of upholstery. All exposed seats are equipped with 3-point seatbelts. Variants are available with footrest, folding table with drink's holder, leather edging or full leather upholstery. The standard Blaupunkt audio system provides entertainment and information, alongside a video system with 19-inch folding monitor above the driver's seat and a further 19-inch monitor, which is positioned above the middle toilet. For rear entry, two 10.2-inch monitors are positioned at the side instead of the second 19-inch monitor. A 19-inch screen recessed in the ceiling is also available.
The chassis: drive comfort and safety at the highest level The comfort and safety of the passengers are largely determined by the quality and performance of the chassis. The VISEON C13 – presented for the first time at the IAA Commercial Vehicles 2010 – is equipped with the latest chassis available on the market: at the front, the five-link axle with independent MAN VOS-08 suspension ensures drive comfort and safety of the highest level. At the rear, you have the MAN HY-1336 drive axle, which is equipped with a special bus suspension with broad spring track. Thanks to a technical axle load of 13.0 tonnes at the rear and 7.5 tonnes at the front, the chassis has sufficient reserves. In some European countries, for example France, registration is also easily possible with a permissible overall weight of 19 tonnes.
A further advantage of the latest MAN chassis is the modern safety equipment on the VISEON C13. The ESP stability programme will be available on the basic version as will cruise control and top speed limiter. Further electronic drive assist programmes, such as lane guard system (LGS) with vibration alarm integrated in the driver's seat or the adaptive cruise control (ACC) are available on request when series production starts.
The drive: powerful, economical and environmentally-friendly The VISEON C13 is available with two different engines. A 10.5-litre in-line six cylinder MAN D2066 LOH EEV with 400 hp (294 kW) in the basic version provides an extremely economical, environmentally-friendly yet powerful drive. This engine has a torque of 1,900 Nm at 1.000 – 1,400 min-1. Customers can also order the VISEON with a 12.4-litre six-cylinder MAN D 2676 LOH 26 (EEV) with 440 hp (324 kW) and a maximum torque of 2,100 Nm at 950 – 1,400 min-1. Thanks to modern common-rail technology, a cooled exhaust gas recirculation and an electronically controlled filter, both power trains even in the offered EEV version run without using additional operating fluids.
VISEON is also offering two alternatives transmissions. Whilst in the 400-hp version the standard offering is a manual, ZF 6 S 1901, six-speed gear box to transfer the engine power to the drive axle, the larger engine is equipped with the power-shift 12-gear ZF AS-Tronic transmission. This is also available for the 400-hp engine. Two different axle drive rations can be selected for the drive axle.
The service: across Europe around the clock VISEON customers can rely on fast assistance and a reliable replacement parts service if required. Around 35 partner firms in the important Central European countries are ready to assist VISEON customers if required. These partners are specially trained to handle VISEON buses. A team of coach specialists are also available on our own 24-hour Service Hotline on +49 (0)995 398 099 3333. Thanks to the MAN technology in drive and chassis, VISEON customers can also call on a wide network of workshops across the whole of Europe.
The production concept: highest quality “made in Germany” VISEON produces the new VISEON C13 midibus exclusively at its lead production site in Pilsting, Lower Bavaria. To this end, the company installed a new bodyshell line with new, cutting-edge frame welding machinery last year. Qualified staff put the precision-lasered and prefitted components together here into a complete frame and weld them into a high-strength vehicle frame. Then the steel tube frame is taken by low loader for KTL priming. The frame returns to the production line two days later and receives the modules for chassis and drive. The components supplied by MAN are then removed from the transfer chassis and individually integrated into the tube frame at defined points. Then the staff attack the pre-tensioned side plates and fit the roof. This is designed in three parts and already has all openings and sealing frames for the air conditioning system. Paintwork, window installation and final fitting with interior finishings are also effected by experienced staff using tried and tested classic methods at the Pilsting site. The VISEON C13 is produced in less than 90 days in a cutting-edge factory under the “Made in Germany” quality seal.

IAA premiere: The new VISEON C10: premium midi-format coach
• The first premium coach completely developed and produced by VISEON offers travel comfort of the highest level • New premium class in midibus sector
For the first time at the IAA Commercial Vehicles 2010 in Hanover, Germany, VISEON is presenting its first coach completely developed and produced in-house - the VISEON C10. As a new midi coach in premium class, the VISEON C10 not only focuses on design, comfort and fittings. Technical details, such as the special roof construction with raised beams and headroom to the rear, the powerful but economical drive, the top-quality chassis and the extensive safety features, all set standards in this class. So the VISEON C10 achieves the compactness and agility of a midibus without having to compromise on the comfort and safety of a "big" coach.
The VISEON C10 is not derived from a longer model, but rather represents a standalone vehicle concept, which has been specially created for the requirements of a coach for small groups: • Compact with sufficient space in the passenger and luggage areas • Light, with powerful but nevertheless economical drive • Comfortable with full-format chassis fit for travel and • safe, with everything that modern framework construction and electronics have to offer.
The design team around designer Michael Streicher have given the VISEON C10 an expressive and elegant appearance with harmonious proportions and a lively and dynamic line. Distinctive: multiple use of the VISEON-V; a little one underneath the windscreen or elegantly shaped over the B and C columns on the side. Other accents come from the boomerang-like headlights and lighting elements on the front and rear. The striking headlights with daytime lamp give the VISEON coach its characteristic eagle appearance.
VISEON are using LED technology for all outside lights for the first time on a coach, except for the main and high-beam lights and the fog lights. In addition to the usual side marker lights, all indicators and brake lights on the front, side and rear now benefit from the durable, fail-proof and energy-saving LED technology. In addition, the VISEON C10 has subtle LED daytime lamps that enable energy-saving travel without main headlights. VISEON also offers main and high-beam headlights with extremely clear bi-xenon lamps. Adaptive headlights already come as standard.
The light-weight and stable, self-supporting structure has been welded from precision-lasered square bar steel using tried and tested all round spar technology. The whole steel tube construction is reliably and permanently protected against corrosion with a top-quality KTL primer down to the smallest elbow. Therefore, VISEON makes a 6-year guarantee against perforation corrosion. Front and rear are made of glass-fibre reinforced plastic, the side walls are lined with galvanised steel plate. The extremely light aluminium luggage flaps and doors get their unusual stability from the double-leaf method familiar from car doors. The luggage space flaps, the engine space flap and the service flaps are attached at the top with newly developed multi-link hinges. This enables an unusually large opening angle of over 140 degrees. The luggage space with more than six cubic metres offers enough space for the baggage of up to 41 guests.
Entry is convenient via three, 220-milimetre-high steps. The escort space has generous legroom and can be fitted with a single or double seat. There is a 55-litre fridge and space for travel documents beneath the large flap in the dashboard. The dashboard is made of top-quality composite materials with a soft-touch surface and is a distinctive chocolate-brown colour, making a pleasant change to the industry-standard grey.
The instrument area is slightly tilted in the driver's direct line of vision. Two large round instruments and central multi-function display show all necessary information at a glance. The switches for service functions like door openings, toilet, hostess call or reading light are on the right, with the switches for drive functions like lights, fog lights, sun blinds or mirror adjustment, on the left. There is plenty of storage space in the VISEON C10: a large, closable drawer to the right of the driver offers A4-sized space for travel documents or other paraphernalia. Other storage space and holders are located beneath the driver's window, to the left of the driver's seat and in the gear lever console. The designed space for the driver's area is so generous that even tall people can find a comfortable sitting and working position.
Another step leads to the spacious passenger area. The central aisle offers headroom of at least 1,980 millimetres along its whole length. This is possible because the roof is raised over the central aisle in the rear section. A panoramic window has also been added here. The spacious luggage racks offer enough space even for larger bags. The comfortably designed interior with four harmonised basic colours of light beige, chocolate-brown, black and aluminium-grey can be individually designed from the large selection of upholstery and colour-matched carpets for the wall cladding. The roof channel with its multi-function aluminium profile represents a world first and a substantial innovation on the new VISEON C10. This profile contains a rail system for attractive service sets with reading lights and hostess call, which can be installed at as many points as you wish. The show-stopper: The power supply for the service sets is already integrated in the profile. Therefore, there is no need for cables or failure-prone connectors to be fitted in the roof channel.
The heating and air conditioning system developed by VISEON ensures a good climate. It is electronically controlled as standard and provides an indirect ventilation system with outlets at the aisle and windows. The air conditioning is available with different power performance of 24 kW or 32 kW. The customer has a choice of seating: VISEON offers price-neutral top-quality passenger seats from Kiel and Vogel. The standard Blaupunkt audio system provides entertainment and information. There is a video system with 19-inch folding monitor above the driver's seat and a further 19-inch monitor, which is positioned above the middle toilet. For rear entry, two 10.2-inch monitors are positioned at the side instead of the second 19-inch monitor.
To ensure that guests are not only comfortable but also safe during travel, VISEON has equipped the premium midibus VISEON C10 with the latest chassis on the market: The tried and tested MAN coach chassis that is now available in modular construction. At the front, the five-link axle with independent MAN VOS-08 suspension ensures drive comfort and safety of the highest level. At the rear, you have the MAN HY-1336 drive axle, which is equipped with a special bus suspension with broad spring track. Despite a relatively low permissible overall weight of 16 tonnes, the VISEON C10 is built on a full coach chassis and, thus, profits from big brakes with 430-milimetre discs, coach tyres of class 295/80 R 22.5 (optional: 275/70 R 22.5) fitted as standard ex works and sufficient reserves with regard to load and performance.
The ESP stability programme will be available on the basic version from Autumn, as will cruise control and brake control. Further electronic drive assist programmes, such as lane guard system (LGS) with vibration warning integrated in the driver's seat are available on request – very unusual for the midibus class!
VISEON has emphasised the environmental credentials of the bus as a means of transport by using a relatively low-volume and, thus, fuel-saving engine with extremely low CO2 and Nox emissions. The VISEON C10 has a 6.9-litre in-line six cylinder MAN D0836 LOH Euro 5 engine. The basic version engine provides 213 kW/290 hp and has a torque of 1100 Nm at 1500 min-1. Later on, VISEON will also offer the new midi in an even more powerful version with 240 kW/326 hp and a maximum torque of 1250 Nm. Both driving gears are also available in the Euro-5 version without the use of additional operating materials. A manual, ZF 6 S 1901, six-speed gear box transfers the engine power to the drive axle. Gear changing is effected via cable pull and is pneumatically supported in the gear mechanism. article download

VISEON now completely independent
• Reinmuth acquires MAN Nutzfahrzeuge´s stake earlier than expected • Growth make independence possible • MAN remains partner for development and contract manufacturing
Pilsting. VISEON Bus GmbH has changed its partnership structure. One year before the originally-planned handover date, the hitherto majority shareholder and managing director, Joachim Reinmuth, has acquired the ten per cent stake held by MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG in the 2008-founded bus manufacturer. As a result, Reinmuth now holds 61 per cent of company shares while Ernö Bartha, likewise managing partner, maintains his 39 per cent share in the enterprise. "It was our aim right from the very beginning to establish ourselves as an independent producer of premium and special-purpose buses as quickly as possible. The positive business performance over the past 12 months has favourably influenced the development and has made it possible to take this important step earlier than originally considered", explained VISEON boss, Joachim Reinmuth.
In addition, the overwhelming positive reaction to the recently unveiled VISEON C10 coach - the first vehicle developed by VISEON and completely manufactured in Pilsting - has encouraged the partners to further expand the coach programme by the end of 2010 and thus much faster than originally planned.
Karl Gadesmann, MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG management board member responsible for controlling, purchasing and legal issues, welcomed the mutually-reached agreement: "As a partner, we have been pleased to have had the opportunity to accompany VISEON Bus GmbH during the successful start of its business activities. We will continue with our partnership-based co-operation even if we are no longer a partner and support the company´s course of expansion". MAN is a partner of VISEON, both as a supplier of high-quality chassis and engines along with the development new coaches for niche markets as well as for contract manufacturing of small production runs and customised bodies.
In April 2009, VISEON Bus GmbH took over the former bus and coach production facility of MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG in Pilsting with around a workforce of 200 employees. At the site today, VISEON develops, manufactures and sells complete airport buses, trolley-buses and coaches as well as special bodies for coaches. In 2009, the company recorded a turnover of 16 million euros. Based on the current planning forecast, VISEON will more than double its turnover this year to about 35 million euros.

The new VISEON C10: premium midi-format coach
• The first premium coach completely developed and produced by VISEON offers travel comfort of the highest level • New premium class in midibus sector
In May 2010, the bus manufacturer from Pilsting in Lower Bavaria is presenting its first coach completely developed and produced in-house - the VISEON C10.
The idea: Midibus from the start The development team for the VISEON C10 under Head of Technology Ernö Bartha accepted the huge challenge and designed a completely standalone midi coach at premium level in less than 18 months. Therefore, the VISEON C10 is not derived from a longer model, but rather represents a standalone vehicle concept, which has been specially created for the requirements of a coach for small groups: Compact with sufficient space in the passenger and luggage areas Light, with powerful but nevertheless economical drive Comfortable with full-format chassis fit for travel and safe, with everything that modern framework construction and electronics have to offer.
Even the dimensions show that the VISEON team have achieved the feat of filling a gap in the top-quality midibus market. At 3.52 metres high, the VISEON C10 is streamlined and fits into garages. Nevertheless, it is high enough to offer enough room for a spacious luggage section and headroom in the aisle. At 10.4 metres long, the VISEON C10 is short enough to negotiate Alpine passes or to manoeuvre through tight streets on city tours. At the same time, however, it is long enough to withstand vibrations and shocks even in difficult road conditions and to offer space for up to 41 passengers.
The self-supporting bodywork with a tube frame in all round spur technology gives the VISEON C10 shape, stability and security. Although the new midibus was designed as a standalone vehicle, the engineers based the framework on a modular design that, on the one hand, considers the requirements on the MAN drive and chassis components and, on the other, allows for any future expansion of the model range with minimum effort. Thanks to this modular design, VISEON are not only offering the new vehicle with the standard centre entry with central toilet, but also with rear entry, combined with a rear toilet and choice of kitchen or seating in the rear.
The design: dynamic, elegant and distinctive The design team around designer Michael Streicher have given the VISEON C10 an expressive and elegant appearance. The coach has soft lines with some distinctive edges with their harmonious proportions and lively, dynamic line. The team succeeded with their visually pleasing design of the overall length and height, but also the height of the window lines, the side panelling and the luggage flaps. Discrete design elements like the VISEON V, which is to be found under the front windscreen as a small and pointed "nose" and over the B and C columns as a large elegant shape up to the roof, or the boomerang-like arrangement of headlights and lighting elements on the front and rear, are accents in the right places and underline the self-confident, modern and distinctive appearance of the new coach. At the same time, these style elements are reminiscent of the other VISEON ranges, such as the VISEON LT trolley bus series.
The face of the new VISEON C10 coach is both friendly and self-confident. The large, deep-design front windscreen with its smiling bottom edge curving upwards suggests a kind openness. The headlights and daytime lamp arranged in a boomerang shape are striking and give the new VISEON coach its characteristic eagle appearance and also a sporty look. The form of the front headlights is repeated thematically in the rear lights and gives a contoured waist to the athletic youthful form of the rear.
As a central design element of the side section, the VISEON V soars elegantly over the B and C column and tapers away gently on the roof edge. This roof edge, also called roof rounding, covers the central in-roof air conditioning with ist striking raised design and, thus, contributes substantially to the cheerfully and harmoniously proportioned appearance of the sides.
The coachwork: latest technology in a small space As with any good design, the high roof rounding not only fulfils aesthetic demands. It also acts as a trough that stops rainwater from running from the roof over the side windows and channels it into the wiper range of the front windscreen - one reason why the wipers are equipped with 1,200-milimetre long blades. Additionally, the rounding acts as a channel for running all the cables and hoses and piping for the air conditioning. The most important interfaces have been positioned specifically for easy access.
Using three-dimensional CAD construction and laborious finite element calculation, the engineers were not only able to give the coachwork functional and attractive sculptured surfaces, but were also able to optimise with regard to weight and stability.
The connection between the framework and the tried and tested chassis and drive modules supplied by MAN is effected at defined points that do not cover any hollow spaces and, therefore, can easily be re-protected against rust after fitting.
Whilst the front and rear sections consist of glass fibre reinforced plastic, the side walls are lined with fully galvanised steel plate, which is firmly connected under tension. The extremely light aluminium luggage flaps and doors get their unusual stability and torsional stiffness from the double-leaf method familiar from car doors. The smooth outer surface is firmly connected to the stabilising inner of bevelled steel. The multi-link hinges are an equally simple yet effective innovation. These are used to attach luggage space flaps, the engine space flap and the service flaps. The newly developed hinge with seven links and very small size also swings the flap outward slightly on opening, facilitating an unusually large opening angle of over 140 degrees. This makes the luggage space and service points particularly accessible. The attractive wheel arches of corrosion-free, glass fibre reinforced plastic are designed as universal models for left and right and can be removed if needed.
The luggage space and the service points: generously sized and easily accessible. The high design with an aisle height of 1,270 millimetres above road level facilitates a voluminous luggage space with more than six cubic metres, which offers enough space for the baggage of up to 41 guests. The optional storage spaces for smaller luggage or drinks above all four wheelhouses are especially practical. These are very generously sized and are accessible from the luggage area. The main control panel for the vehicle electronics is stored in the centre of the front wall of the luggage space, well-protected behind a stable panel. If needed, you have dry access to the modules and relays here, quickly and without effort. The housing for the control panel also accommodates the channel for the forced venting, which feeds the air from the passenger area through the luggage space in the negative pressure range behind the front axle to the outside.
Other control panels are located close to the consumers, in the area of the front and rear doors and behind the service flap underneath the driver's seat. This service area also houses the batteries on a pull-out slide, a circuit breaker and a 15-litre container for the screen wash system. The standard spare wheel is stored behind the fold-down fairing. There is additional storage for tools behind the left rear wheel in front of the cooler. The VISEON engineers have fitted the 480-litre diesel tank between the wheelhouses of the front axle. This can be filled from both sides as standards. The flaps on the filler neck are directly behind the front wheel. Therefore, filling up is also easy from the right-hand side even if the door is open.
The vehicle lighting: first time with LED technology throughout VISEON are using LED technology for all outside lights for the first time on a coach, except for the main and high-beam lights and the fog lights. In addition to the usual side marker lights, all indicators and brake lights on the front, side and rear now benefit from the durable, fail-proof and energy-saving LED technology. In addition, the VISEON C10 has subtle LED daytime lamps that enable energy-saving travel without main headlight and, thus, a substantial energy saving. The top marker lights at the rear are designed to be space-saving and low-maintenance as combined rear, brake and indicator lights with long-life LED technology. VISEON also offers main and high-beam headlights with extremely clear and wide-illumination bi-xenon lamps. An adaptive light that - controlled by the wheel lock on the left axle - switches off the right or left fog light as needed, come as standard on the VISEON C10.
The exterior mirrors: More than just a mirror The new type of exterior mirrors with their different mirror surfaces offer an outstanding view from the driver's seat to the rear, the side and directly in front of the vehicle. The main mirrors can be adjusted electronically as standard and are electrically heated and have a vibration-damping element in the mirror arm. The special glass in these mirrors has reduced glare effect at night (Nightsafe®). Mirrors with water-repellent glass are also available on request (Hydrosafe®). Rain drops and dirt roll off the surface - mirrors remain clean even during rain and, therefore, always offer a good view to the rear even in unfavourable weather conditions. The customer can also order a camera-supported a blind spot alarm at extra cost. This monitors the area to the left next to the vehicle that the mirror does not show and warns of vehicles or obstacles in this area with four LED warning lights in the mirror. The right mirror arm has integrated low-maintenance LED lighting to ensure safe entry and exit from the vehicle even at night.
The escort space and driver's workstation: generous, clear and practical Entry is convenient via three, 220-milimetre-high steps. There are handrails to the right in front of the dashboard and on the left on the escort's chair to ensure that even elderly guests can board safely. A further safety measure is immediately visible: the fire extinguisher, which the designers have positioned for easy access behind a Plexiglas panel under the steps to the aisle.
The escort space has generous legroom and can be fitted with a single or double seat. As the attachment points are identical for both models, customers can also choose to change to seat later on. There is a 55-litre fridge and space for travel documents beneath the large flap in the dashboard. There is a switch for hostess call and reading light to the side of the door, as well as nozzle ventilation that keeps the door glass clear in winter and provides the escort with cool air in summer. The air for the front windscreen is also provided by effective nozzle ventilators, which are located at the front of the dashboard pointing up. Heating for the front windscreen is also available.
The dashboard is made of top-quality composite materials with a soft-touch surface and is a distinctive chocolate-brown colour, making a pleasant change to the industry-standard grey. Whilst it is low on the right-hand side to improve visibility and runs in a straight line beside the door, the dashboard curves around on the driver's side around the workstation at the wheel. The instrument area is slightly tilted in the driver's direct line of vision. Two large round instruments and central multi-function display show all necessary information at a glance. Other data can be accessed at any time at the touch of a button. Whilst the switches for service functions like door openings, toilet, hostess call or reading light are on the right, the switches for drive functions like lights, fog lights, sun blinds or mirror adjustment, are on the left. The lever for the handbrake is also on the left at the front, directly next to the driver.
The optional navigation device with rear view camera function, the electronic heating and air conditioning controls, the audio and video system and the digital tachograph are arranged at the front on the right-hand side of the screen integrated into the dashboard and are easy to access from top to bottom. There is still sufficient space underneath for a large, closing drawer, which is A4 sized and can be used to store travel documents or other paraphernalia. The designers have equipped the driver's workstation on the VISEON C10 very generously with storage space. Open pockets and holders underneath the driver's window and a large vertical net on the left next to the driver's seat can be used for other accessories. And if that is not enough, there is an additional folder-sized space for the driver's documents in the gear lever console under an elegant roller cover. There is also space to install a safe in the stair head directly behind the driver's seat. On request, customers can also order additional, closing overhead storage for the driver and the escort.
On the VISEON C10 the driver is beneath the passenger level, meaning he is not in the passengers' direct line of sight when he takes position in his comfortable seat behind the wheel with cruise control. The designed space for the driver's area is so generous that even tall people can find a comfortable sitting and working position. The clear visibility from the workstation is very impressive at the front, the side and to the rear using the new type of mirrors. The standard driver's seat has several adjustment options, adjustable lumbar support and an integrated driver's microphone. The electrically operated, two-part sun blind offers sun protection in addition to the windscreen with integrated thermo-reflective film. The driver's window opens horizontally, either manually or also electrically on request.
The passenger area: comfort, elegance and smart solutions Another step leads to the spacious passenger area. The central aisle - slight slope at the front - offers headroom of at least 1,980 millimetres along its whole length. You can even stand comfortably in the kitchen at the rear, which is available on request. The engineers came up with an ingenious design to realise this despite the relatively low overall height of the vehicle: the roof over the central aisle slopes upwards behind the centrally installed air conditioning system. At the same time, a panoramic window has been added at this point, which can also act as an emergency exit. A bright dome with additional headroom has been installed in the slightly raised area above the engine space.
The spacious luggage racks are upholstered underneath and offer enough space even for larger bags. Slightly curved brackets connect the rack to the ceiling. This tried and tested design not only counters disruptive movement and vibrations. It also helps to keep the vehicle's overall weight as low as possible. There is no need for heavy, free-running supports and their extensive anchors.
The roof channel with its multi-function aluminium profile represents a world first and a substantial innovation on the new VISEON C10. This profile not only forms the ventilation channel with the air outlets for even room ventilation. It also contains a rail system for the side curtains and for attractive service sets with reading lights and hostess call, which can be installed at as many points as you wish. The show stopper: the power supply for the service sets is already integrated in the profile. Therefore, there is no need for cables or failure-prone connectors to be fitted in the roof channel.
The heating and air conditioning system developed by VISEON ensures a good climate. It is electronically controlled as standard and provides an indirect ventilation system with outlets at the aisle and windows. Thus, there is a pleasant, draught-free climate in the whole passenger area whatever the weather. The air conditioning is available with different performance levels (3 star, 4 star, 5 star for use in hot countries) with 24 kW or 32 kW. Maintenance-free convectors can heat the inside evenly and provide pleasant radiant heat. Additional entry heaters on the front door and also on the rear door on request prevent cold getting in at this point. The side windows are a new type of insulating glass and so also ensure even temperatures inside and also contribute to the vehicle's low weight. Due to demonstrably better stability than with the standard 4.0-milimetre sheets of glass inside and outside, two 3.0-milimetre-thick layers of glass are used here - a weight advantage of more than 70 kilograms. A gas filling in the 8.0-milimetre gap between the layers of glass ensures good insulation.
VISEON also offers customer-specific special designs on request, which can also include multi-channel audio-video systems and seats with integrated video monitors.
The basic version of the VISEON C10 has a middle entry door and a middle toilet. A kitchen integrated into the middle entry section is also available. On the optional model with rear entry door, the toilet is in the corner to the right of the direction of travel. This leaves enough space for three seats or, on request, a kitchen. VISEON equips all new coaches with fire alarms in the engine space and in the toilets as standard for passenger safety.
The chassis: drive comfort and safety at the highest level To ensure that guests are not only comfortable but also safe during travel, VISEON has equipped the premium midibus VISEON C10 with the latest chassis on the market: the tried and tested MAN coach chassis that is now available in modular concept. VISEON is the first manufacturer to integrate these modular components into a coach. At the front, the five-link axle with independent MAN VOS-08 suspension ensures drive comfort and safety of the highest level. At the rear, you have the MAN HY-1336 drive axle, which is equipped with a special bus suspension with broad spring track. Tried and tested large series components from MAN ensure that service and replacement parts are quickly available across the whole of Europe if required. Despite its small length of 10.40 metres and relatively low permissible overall weight of 16 tonnes, the VISEON C10 is built on a full coach chassis, which is normally used for 18-tonne coaches. The advantages are obvious: • Large brakes with 430-milimetre discs offer a higher safety potential; • Standard coach tyres of class 295/80 R 22.5 (optional: 275/70 R 22.5); • The chassis has more than sufficient reserves with regard to load and performance.
A further advantage is the safety equipment that VISEON offers in connection with the MAN chassis on the VISEON C10. The ESP stability programme will be available on the basic version from Autumn, as will cruise control and brake control. Further electronic drive assist programmes, such as lane guard system (LGS) with vibration alarm integrated in the driver's seat or the adaptive cruise control (ACC) are available on request – very unusual for the midibus class!
The drive: powerful, economical and environmentally-friendly VISEON has emphasised the environmental credentials of the bus as a means of transport by using a relatively low-volume and, thus, fuel-saving engine with extremely low CO2-and NOx emissions. The VISEON C10 has a 6.9-litre in-line six cylinder MAN D0836 LOH Euro 5 engine for an environmentally-friendly yet powerful drive. In addition to the lower fuel consumption, downsizing the drive chain leads to a substantial weight reduction of around 600 kilograms compared to a larger power train plus gears. The basic version engine provides 213 kW/290 hp and has a torque of 1,100 Nm at 1,500 min-1. Later on, VISEON will also offer the new midi in an even more powerful version with 240 kW/326 hp and a maximum torque of 1,250 newton metres. Both power trains also come with injection pressures of 1,800 bar thanks to modern common-rail technology, a cooled exhaust gas recirculation and an Oxikat in the Euro 5 version without using additional operating materials.
A manual, ZF 6 S 1901, six-speed gear box transfers the engine power to the drive axle. Gear changing is effected via cable pull and is pneumatically supported in the gear mechanism. There are three different axle drive rations to choose from for the drive axle. VISEON supplies the VISEON C10 with the 4.11 ratio as standard. The axle with the 4.625 ratio is recommended for mountainous use, whilst the optional 3.7 ratio is recommended for flat regions.
The production concept: highest quality "made in Germany" VISEON produces the new VISEON C10 midibus exclusively at its lead production site in Pilsting, Lower Bavaria. Paintwork, window installation and final fitting with interior finishings is also done by experienced staff using tried and tested classic methods. The VISEON C10 is produced in less than 90 days in a cutting-edge factory under the "Made in Germany" quality seal. |

The new VISEON C10: premium midi-format coach (short version)
• The first premium coach completely developed and produced by VISEON offers travel comfort of the highest level • New premium class in midibus sector
In May 2010, the bus manufacturer from Pilsting in Lower Bavaria is presenting its first coach completely developed and produced in-house - the VISEON C10.
Further electronic drive assist programmes, such as lane guard system (LGS) with vibration warning integrated in the driver's seat or the adaptive cruise control (ACC) are available on request – very unusual for the midibus class!
The basic version engine provides 213 kW/290 hp and has a torque of 1,100 Nm at 1,500 min-1. Later on, VISEON will also offer the new midi in an even more powerful version with 240 kW/326 hp and a maximum torque of 1,250 newton metres. Both driving gears are also available in the Euro-5 version without the use of additional operating materials. A manual, ZF 6 S 1901, six-speed gear box transfers the engine power to the drive axle. Gear changing is effected via cable pull and is pneumatically supported in the gear mechanism.

VISEON gets order for electric bus system in Saudi Arabia
• 12 articulated trolley buses for new university campus • Renewed project partnership with SICE
Pilsting.Together with Spanish partner SICE, VISEON Bus GmbH has received a large order from Saudi Arabia for the VISEON Rapid Transit System (RTS) based on electrically operated trolley buses. VISEON will supply twelve articulated trolley buses for the public transport system, which will connect the new campus of King Saud University in Riyadh. Partner SICE (Sociedad Ibérica de Construcciones Eléctricas, S.A.) will erect the infrastructure, such as trolley wire network and traffic control system. Thus, VISEON is revitalising its partnership with the Spanish specialist for electric traffic systems. In 2007, SICE introduced a trolley bus system in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, in cooperation with NEOPLAN Bus GmbH. VISEON was successful in the bid for the new King Saud University transport system with its future-oriented, tram design trolley buses against a rail-based transport concept. "The fact that we have received this order from a private developer, shows that VISEON is internationally competitive both as a bus manufacturer and a systems supplier", declared VISEON boss Joachim Reinmuth after the contract signing.
The vehicles intended for King Saud University are based on the NEOPLAN Trolley, a low-floor articulated trolley bus made by VISEON, which has a passenger capacity of 120 people. The buses are around 19.5 metres long and have tram-style design developed in-house with a tapered front. The new design is a visual emphasis of the future-orientation of the extremely quiet and local emissions-free trolley bus system. As temperatures in Riyadh frequently reach more than 50 degrees Celsius, VISEON will equip all vehicles with very powerful air conditioning integrated in the electric drive concept, as well as insulating double glazing and air curtains on the doors.
The campus of the newly built King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences in Riyadh stretches over an area of five square kilometres. In addition to the university clinic and the various scientific and medical institutes, the site includes a large residential area for students, lecturers and staff. The depot and service workshop for the trolley buses are also accommodated on site. The rapid transit project will create an emissions-free transport zone within the university grounds. Students, staff and visitors to the campus will be able to use the rapid transit system with its 24 stations for free in the future. The trolley buses will run on separate bus lines on the site. Priority control at the crossroads to the other streets will ensure smooth and efficient passenger transit.
The order from Saudi Arabia involves the delivery of the VISEON trolley buses by the end of 2011 and is a volume of around 13 million euros for the bus manufacturer.
