VISEON reveals the first details of the new midi coach VISEON C10
• The first premium coach to be completely developed and manufactured by Viseon will be available in the spring of 2010 • New premium class in the medium-sized bus segment
Pilsting. VISEON Bus GmbH will bring its first entirely self-developed and manufactured premium bus onto the market in the spring of 2010. Ernö Bartha, VISEON managing director, presented the first details of this new vehicle at the beginning of August. It's a 'Midibus' (medium-sized bus) in the premium bus segment - around ten metres in length, 3.52 metres high, with a large luggage compartment, high-quality coach chassis and top equipment spec. With the VISEON C10 the new bus manufacturer from Pilsting in Lower Bavaria has achieved a balance between the comfort and safety of a coach and the compactness, economy and manoeuvrability of a 'midi bus'. "The VISEON C10 is not a derivative of a longer model and not simply a new body on an existing midi chassis; rather it is a completely newly-developed vehicle", explains Ernö Bartha.
In fact the development team around the experienced technology leader has overcome a notable challenge: In less than 18 months VISEON will not only develop, build and test the new vehicle - it will also bring it to series construction standard for the market. "This is only possible with a highly-motivated, qualified and experienced team, like the team from VISEON“, maintains Bartha. Indeed, it is not only in terms of time, but also from the viewpoint of the development aims, that the VISEON team has achieved ambitious targets. And today Bartha is convinced: "The VISEON C10 will become the most attractive, economic and comfortable bus in its class." The VISEON managing director is also able to verify these significant claims for the vehicle: The initial design drafts and the technical details of the new premium medium bus speak for themselves.
Dynamic, elegant design With its very expressive design, the VISEON C10 further underlines its claims to premium status. The large, imposing area of frontal glazing, the well-proportioned side walls with a uniform distribution of luggage flaps, body and side panels and the powerful rear view combine to produce a harmonious overall sporty appearance. The characteristic VISEON-V, which is to be found all over the bus in different variations, lends a catchy accentuation without overpowering exaggeration. In particular the v-shaped pillar, whose sweep blends dynamically into the lateral roof spoiler, has been used by designer Michael Streicher to lend a striking and easily recognised appearance to the VISEON C10. But also the front and rear lights arranged in a v-shape in the current LED design play their part in the pleasing lines of the coachwork.
Great small coach With an overall length of just 10.30 metres and an overall height of 3.52 metres, the VISEON C10 is clearly smaller than a "standard" coach. This midibus is targeted at bus operators, which frequently carry smaller groups, which do not want to sacrifice the comfort provided by a coach. Despite its diminutive measurements the VISEON C10 enjoys a voluminous luggage compartment with more than six cubic metres of capacity and therefore adequate accommodation for the luggage of all the passengers. Despite the large luggage compartment and relatively small overall height of the vehicle, the passenger accommodation is generously dimensioned. A new type of construction in the rear section of the roof will enable a standing height of at least 1.94 metres to be achieved over the entire length in the centre aisle.
VISEON offers the C10 with both series-type central passenger access and rear access, if required. In the 3-star seat row separation version up to 41 passengers can be accommodated; in the 4-star arrangement, with central or rear toilet, up to 36 passengers can be carried. The roll-over protection of the self-supporting frame structure is designed to accommodate the requirements of the new European directive ECE R66. In addition, a KTL coating guarantees prolonged and reliable corrosion protection on susceptible components.
Ride comfort for the feeling of well being The premium class of the VISEON C10 is also reflected in the interior. High-quality surfaces and pleasing lines ensure elegance. The v-shaped B and C pillars, with coloured emphasising trim carry the flourish of the dynamic vehicle design through to the passenger compartment, without compromising the view for the passengers in the second row of seats. Thanks to the roomy luggage racks and the headroom of 1.94 metres there is a generous sensation of spaciousness. The inner ceiling, with the roof ducting integrated in the side racks, is executed in a particularly robust and vibration-absorbing manner. The series-standard electronically-regulated heating and air-conditioning system provides an indirect ventilation system with outlet flows to the central aisle and to the windows. In this way a pleasant, relaxed climate is achieved throughout the entire passenger compartment in all weather conditions. Included in the scope of the series production are high quality seating and also a centre toilet. Rear passenger access, rear toilet, rear lounge or stand up kitchen are available options in the rear of the bus.
Exemplary driver workstation The driver position is designed in accordance with the latest know-how on ergonomics - opening up a new dimension in this class. Generous dimensions to the side and to the rear, easily reachable locations for the gear shift lever and switch consoles, as well as clarity of function - affording the driver an as comfortable as possible driving experience on the Volant. Extremely generous racks and holders are also provided for documents and drinks. It goes without saying, that the series production also features a steering wheel with integrated function buttons and a multi-function display on the instrument panel. The sweeping fascia also offers space for a large navigation display as well as audio/video systems and tachograph.
Modern bus chassis With the latest chassis technology from MAN the VISEON C10 offers ride comfort and safety of the highest level. This features pneumatic damping with four bellows on the rear axle and two bellows on the front axle, individual front wheel suspension, 22.5 inch tyres, electronically-controlled braking (EBS) with series incorporated electronic stability program (ESP). As one of the first midibuses, the VISEON C10 will additionally be available with electronic assistance systems such as the ’adaptive cruise control' and 'lane assistant'.
The environmental friendliness of the bus concept is underlined by VISEON with the use of a relatively low capacity and hence fuel-saving engine with extremely low CO2 and NOx emissions. In the VISEON C10 a 6.9 litre series 6-cylinder engine of the type MAN D0836 LOH Euro 5 takes care of the environmentally friendly, but powerful propulsion. In the Euro-5 version this power system is featured without additional fuel consumption. In the basic version the engine has an output of 213 kW/290 PS and a torque of 1150 Nm at 1500 min-1.
Service around the clock VISEON customers can be sure of swift assistance and a reliable spares service if the need arises. At the end of a specially installed 24-hour-Service-Hotline +49 (0) 9953-98099-3333 a team of bus specialists is available round-the-clock . Thanks to the MAN technology in drive and chassis systems VISEON customers have access to a wide network of workshop facilities throughout Europe.
